01. Tune Down
02. Summer 05
03. Broken
04. Theme
When Spanish Bombs dropped four songs of espanol bombage on the masses the pope got down on his knees and thanked the lord above. They somehow meld elements of catchy/melodic guitar riffs with a punk/hardcore urgency without sounding like pop punk or melodic hardcore. We get upbeat hardcore songs that are so ripe you can smell the shrapnel while your nose hairs singe in utter excitement. I can't put a finger on the influence but it reminds me of something in between late 80's D.C. revolution summer, 90's post-hardcore and newer weird bands like Modern Life Is War. Throughout the demo the vocals and lyrics feel and sound emotive without drooping into the cheese department.
The second song, "Summer 05," is my favorite that feels anthemic, catchy and dynamic. When they put out their next release I'm crossing my fingers that they at least rerecord this song.
Any feelings of hesitation should immediately be terminated: the whole demo is up for download on the Spanish Bombs website. This will be the demo of the year and in 2007 expect to hear about this band nonstop.
