When I received this demo from my mailbox and saw the band name, I expected to hear something in vein of Modern Life Is War. But then, like getting to the middle of a Twinkie, things changed very quickly. While the demo definitely still does have a hardcore vibe to it, don’t expect punk sounds, but instead the kind of sounds that you would find on a late 90’s Level-Plane release. This is probably attributed to influences ranging from Joshua Fit For Battle to City Of Caterpillar. But there’s no carbon copy here, with American Football/Appleseed Cast lightness and Smashing Pumpkin’s alt rockingness influences thrown in for some high class nudity. The vocals for the most part are demonic higher screaming, but there is also some lower loudish-throat-talking that sounds very scary (see: the beginning of "This Ain’t No Skipping Stone"). The use of an uplifting glockenspiel breakdown at the end of "Judy Jetson" provides some definitive oral stimulation, which seems to be missing in most rock bands these days. People want it, so why can’t bands provide it? Life Is A Fight does. They also have a really hard/heavy guitar part in "Spit In The Ocean" that’ll even make the most timid boy/girl in a Saetia shirt mosh.

Extra incenctive for buying this demo: Each demo has a hand painted cover, HELLA DIY.
