Remember Spazz? Nerd Bomber does! Also from the bay area, Nerd Bomber plays fast hardcore with songs averaging 20 seconds in length. Although Nerd Bomber is only a two piece, they make full use of their ammo. Yong-Song plays guitar and does "Elmo" vocals, while Andrew plays drums and does "Cookie Monster" vocals. These vocal descriptions are taken directly from the liner notes, which are pretty accurate. In between the Sesame Street vocal eruptions, there are mob vocals that sound like a party, not like a bunch of cronies. While the music is super fast and hardcore, it's able to come off really fun sounding. With lyrics like, "Go! Ooh! Aahh! Yeah! etc." and "Crushing riffs and circle pits/We love to grind!" it's hard not to smile. The liner notes are photocopied with hand written lyrics and cute little pictures and write-ins ("i<3hammertime-ys"). While Nerd Bomber are fun, they’re not heartless, as the songs do also have meaning ("No one can live your life for you/Follow your heart and stay true!").
The downfall of this demo is that it's only 3 minutes long, which makes me crave more! I can't wait to hear more from NERD BOMBER!!
(the mp3 site says the band is Trenchmouth, but that's because they changed their name to Nerd Bomber after making the mp3 site)
