Oh wow, another Long Island hardcore band? Seriously? Man, I can't really say I saw this one coming. All sarcastic comments aside, Long Island, New York has cranked out some seriously great bands over the years. I mean, who else has a pedigree like Glassjaw, Silent Majority, Brand New and Crime in Stereo?

More or less, you know the score with Call it Fire: aggressive melodic hardcore, shouted vocals, and some seriously driving guitars. So, if this is the case, what sets Call it Fire apart from any of their other peers kicking around the island?

Call It Fire rush through five songs in under ten minutes on this demo, and the intensity and conviction in these songs doesn't relent throughout. This is melodic hardcore played fast, and played well. Upon putting the demo in, you can immediately discern shades of The Backup Plan and This Is Hell, definitely. Keep listening though, and you can hear a sense of melody amidst the aggression that you could use to draw comparisons to bigger acts like With Honor or Comeback Kid.

To be fair, while Call it Fire play these songs with a tight sense of musicianship, they aren't doing anything here to turn the hardcore scene upside down. It's a solid demo, with five tracks of melody and aggression that definitely shows promise.
