Kill Rock Stars is celebrating 30 years of operations with a series of cover songs from their extensive catalog through 2021 -- also available as a subscription.

The latest track comes from Fruit Bats, with a folksy take on "As I Rise," originally by The Decemberists, which appears on their 2003 album Her Majesty -- which is now for sale in an extremely limited, hand-numbered set of 91 pink vinyl prints.

Speaking of the song choice, Eric D. Johnson offers:

The Decemberists honored me with a cover of one of my songs a few years back, so when I was asked to choose a KRS band to cover, the choice was clear. I’ve always loved this song - it’s always felt to me like some sort of string band hymn reinterpreted into a Exile-era Stones track. My idea was to re-reinterpret it back into some kind of hyper traditional form. This song feels forever to me.
