Universal Zulu Nation plans hip-hop anniversary celebration

The Universal Zulu Nation is organizing a 6 day event in New York City to mark the official 40th Anniversary of Hip-Hop, running Nov. 4-9.

The parts is expected to host several artists in both hip-hop and in genres influenced by it. The Universal Zulu Nation was founded in 1973 by Afrika Bambaataa.

Confirmed Official Universal Zulu Nation events include:

  • Crotona Park Summerstage featuring the legendary Chuck Chillout, DJ Hollywood, and Busy Bee, June 25th
  • Central Park Summerstage with Rock Steady Crew, July 27th
  • Staten Island Summerstage featuring Latin Freestyle superstars Lisette Melendez and George Lamond, July 30th
  • Martha’s Vineyard Summer Madness Festival featuring Lauryn Hill, MC Lyte, Monie Love, Amel Larrieux, and Queen Lisa Lee (Soulsonic Force’s first female MC), August 8th
  • Woodstock 45th Anniversary/UZN 41st Anniversary, August 15th-17th
