Originally released as a limited run of 100 cassettes, Perpetual Motion Machine has decided to repress a small number of September Songs in preparation for Souvenir's Young America's upcoming tour with Aughra. If you missed your opportunity the first time, don't miss out on it again. Souvenir's Young America has been slowly but surely making waves in the instrumental rock scene, and it seems that with September Songs the band has finally being recognized for their talent. Souvenir's Young America plays slow and layered instrumental rock, usually building up to a climax but never really reaching the top of the mountain of sound. They stay controlled throughout, creating very atmospheric and droning music that is really uncomparable to other bands in an instrumental scene that I had previously thought was been completely bare of anything new. Starting off with a western theme and harmonica use and moving into more ambient and melodic music, Souvenir's Young America is a three-piece able to create music that sounds far more greater than the sum of its members. Packaged with silkscreened artwork and guaranteed to move quickly, September Songs is Souvenir's Young America arrival party. Come and celebrate.

The album in question is able to juggle some soft prettiness with a … Read more

From the reviewer's initial notes made upon first hearing the album: Quiet + Loud + Quiet + Harmonica = Souvenir's Young America What a sad, lazy reviewer I am. And, as always, lazy reviewing makes for lazy reading, so if the above equation says it all for you, Godspeed my child. For readers with more moxie, yes, the above equation … Read more
