Sitting down at my well-worn Arts and Crafts Mission Style desk I ponder with a quill pen firmly grasped between my index finger and thumb properly. Occasionally I dip the tip of the pen into the black ink well and glance at the ceiling lost in transition until thoughts of bitter torrid times are washed away by welcoming waves of adulation and splendor.

Dearest troubled world,

I am hoping that this postcard finds you well. It has been some time since we last corresponded and I am hoping that the water that rushed under your troubled bridge has now calmed and settled. I recently was in Florida and regrettably had my leg eaten above the knee by what authorities believe was a ferocious Bull Shark. It is said that it is usually a case of mistaken identity but if truth be told I had just relieved myself creating a warm pool of urine surrounding me. It has been stated that a shark can smell a drop of blood within hundreds of meters but I am not sure if that stipulates other bodily fluids and I am not about to test that theory by dipping my other leg back into the ocean. The good news is my severed leg was recovered although a bit mangled, the good folks at the local emergency room were able to secure it back firmly. To some, it may be problematic that it was put on backwards however I feel lucky to have this rekindled friend back where it belongs. Oh, I am running out of room on this beautifully designed handmade postcard so I should cut it short but didn't want to forget to point out that this actual postcard is actually a record since you are a connoisseur of interesting artifacts and bric -a -brac. I had the choice of three in a bundle but chose to send you one by the band called The Baby Ghosts since it is well-known fact that your abode is haunted by a sex-starved poltergeist. Perhaps in time if you write me back in a timely fashion I will respond with either a postcard from Amaxites or The Social Sect or alternatively, I will allow you to choose whatever tickles your fickle fancy.

Signing off as always your humble servant.

Dead Band's Party: A Tribute to Oingo Boingo
Indianola (2005)

The 80's weren't really as bad as those VH1 specials make it out to be. Sure the fashion of those years was pretty atrocious, but try going to a concert today without laughing. It's hard, trust me. Throughout the decade there was quality music being made on all fronts - pop, hardcore, new-wave, hip hop, and punk. There were some … Read more

Generations: A Hardcore Compilation
Revelation (2005)

I turned 31 about a month ago and at my age a person tends to finally want to "grow up" and get out of hardcore. There's been plenty of lonely Friday and Saturday nights (like tonight) where I've wanted just pack up 90% of my CD collection (the fuck if I'm going to give up my Cro-Mags and Lifetime discs) … Read more

Tony Hawk's American Wasteland
Vagrant (2005)

Tempers of music fans ran high from the day stories were posted on various sites that specific bands were to be covering songs that are heralded as classics in the genres of punk rock and hardcore. A metalcore band covering Bad Brains? A pop-punk band covering the legendary Gorilla Biscuits? Surely this is some sort of joke. Surely not. Say … Read more
