Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist Flea has released a solo EP, Helen Burns, for a name-your-price download to benefit the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a nonprofit organization that he helped to create in 2001 to promote musical education. The record will be available at the name-your-price download until August 9, at which time it will become available at other digital retailers. A limited edition vinyl release is also available.

Flea describes the record as follows:

Warning! It is not a Chili Pepper record. It does not have songs that are like the Chili Peppers at all. It is a mostly instrumental, weird and arty record, the music is mostly just me creating soundscapes that are very emotional for me, but certainly not for everyone! -- Just me tripping out at home.
