Botanist is changing labels, announcing a new album to be written entirely in Latin and to release via Prophecy Productions, the tenth album by the the post-black metal project.
The San Francisco, CA based band founded by multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Otrebor is planning not just a new album, but reissues of the band's pack catalog. The next album is still in preparation at this point.
Botanist belongs in this new generation of black metal bands, of acts attempting to reinvigorate the genre by expanding its scope. The whole concept of one-man black metal projects is quite old. From back in the ‘90s you would have acts like Burzum and Ildjarn (although they would feature also Nidhogg occasionally.)
