Isis' Panopticon gets reissue
Isis' Panopticon gets reissue

On April 29, Ipecac will issue a release of Isis' Panopticon record, first released by the label in 2004. It is the second in the Isis reissues series, with Ipecac having rereleased Celestial last year.

Says drummer Aaron Harris on the new mastering:

When ISIS was playing these songs regularly I wasn't able to enjoy them as a listener. Now that I haven't played these songs in years they've taken on a whole new identity for me. Mika Jussila did an amazing job with the re-master. The record has more detail and dynamics now. I feel that re-masters sometime ruin the integrity of records, but I feel that fans will really appreciate this re-master, and maybe find a new appreciation for Panopticon, as I have.

Panopticon track list:

1. So We Did
2. Backlit
3. In Fiction
4. Wills Dissolve
5. Syndic Calls
6. Altered Course
7. Grinning Mouths

But what makes reviewing Celestial so difficult is that it is already a legendary album, to the point where everything to be said about it from a critical standpoint has been said before. So instead of trying to sell you on the album itself (because really, it's just fucking great), I'm going to examine Ipecac's … Read more

Unfortunately, while … Read more

Ipecac (2012)

When Isis called it a day, it felt as if a part of me was ending in a similar manner as the band had meant so much to me over the course of their prestigious run; but hanging over their end statement was the promise of one last recording to be given to the band’s listeners, and, with Temporal, the band finally gives … Read more
