Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante has a new album to release on May 14. Titled Silber Linings, a nod to dealing with pandemic-related anxiety and stress, the album is a 14-song collaboration with musical friends from the rock and rap worlds, drawn from his ongoing "quaranting jam video series," which has included members of Anthrax, Suicidal Tendencies, Testament, Rob Zombie, Butcher Babies, and more.

Benante explains:

Back in February of last year...with COVID and all the other B.S. that was going on, I was glued to the 24-hour news cycle on the TV and my phone, and I started to get really depressed. My girlfriend said I needed to turn off the news and suggested I do something creative, whether it was art or drumming or writing new songs, and she was right...I knew a lot of my musician friends were going through the same thing I had been, so I started asking them if they wanted to get involved, play some songs with me, maybe make a video - that's how it all started.

A video for "Run-DMC Medley," featuring Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, Rob Caggiano (Volbeat), Ra Diaz (Suicidal Tendencies), and Benante is out now. The record will release via Megaforce Records with a portion of proceeds to benefit the Neal Casal Music Foundation.

Worship Music
Megaforce (2011)

The story of how Worship Music came to be is longish and a bit complicated—dating back to 2009 in what was essentially a three-way dance for the vocalist spot. Some of the original material was adjusted accordingly or, in most cases, scrapped all together and rewritten, resulting in what is ultimately the best case scenario for long-time Anthrax fans: the … Read more
