Joey Cape & Jose Prieto release split EP in support of tour

Currently on a short US East Coast tour, Joey Cape (Lagwagon) and Jose Prieto (MakeWar) have shared a new 2-song split EP, out now on digital platforms. The duo, along with comedian Joe Sib, is in Asbury Park tonight, followed by Brooklyn and Cambridge.

Joey Cape shares an origin story about the EP, with a hint of more to come:

Jose Prieto and I booked some tour dates on the East Coast and he came up with the idea of doing a split to release before the tour, which starts this week. I loved the idea, so we went for it, but, we didn’t finish the whole thing in time. So here's just a teaser from our upcoming split. Enjoy!

1 Oct 2021 in Asbury Park, NJ, US @ Wonder Bar w/ Joe Sib, Jose Prieto
2 Oct 2021 in Brooklyn, NY, US @ Knitting Factory w/ Joe Sib, Jose Prieto
3 Oct 2021 in Cambridge, MA, US @ SONIA w/ Joe Sib, Jose Prieto

Get It Together
Fat Wreck Chords (2019)

MakeWar aren’t like most of the other punk bands out there. They play what I call midtempo punk. It’s not built on anthems, choruses or super-fast into-the-pit adrenaline. Get It Together isn’t about fist-in-the-air release, it’s about built-up tension. The band is actively calling for people to (ahem) Get. It. Together. The tone is one of frustration and marginalization, but with a … Read more

Developing A Theory of Integrity
Red Scare Industries (2016)

One of the reasons I gravitate toward the pop-end of the punk spectrum is because it lacks pretention. The structures are straightforward and honest, often predictable to such a fault that it’s become cliché. That’s why an album like Developing A Theory of Integrity is so refreshing. The overall sound is gruff pop-punk with a verse-chorus-verse foundation and a lot … Read more

Bridge
Suburban Home (2008)

Where does the aging punk-rocker go when his band's presence in the scene has all but evaporated, releasing new material only when the mortgage has to be paid or a new mouth to feed has entered the family unit, touring mostly when the opportunity is to travel overseas?
