Debt Offensive Records and Snappy Little Numbers have teamed up to bring us a new album by Night Court, Nervous Birds Too, due for release on May 6.

The Vancouver, BC based trio plays power pop, punkified indie rock...or something that combines those words into joyful melodies with peppy rhythms. SPB had the honor of sharing one of their videos last year, and now we get its follow-up.

The lead single from Nervous Birds Too is "Titanic."

“The original idea was for the song to be about the titanic without any explicit reference to the name ‘titanic’ – a real one minute, 15 second mystery – but then we somehow ended up just naming the song “titanic” and thought that was stupid and funny so we went with it." Dave Paterson, of the band says.

Debt Offensive, Snappy Little Numbers Quality Audio Recordings (2022)

Night Court may have a silly name, but the band feels sincere and (mostly) serious. Rooted in garage-punk, the sounds are familiar in form but each track on this 12-song record gives a different energy. Generally speaking, it’s melodic and positive punk with a lo-fi DIY vibe. There are elements of the old Plan-It-X sound but with a little more … Read more

You’ve heard the black box joke, right? The plane crash joke? People say “if the black box is so strong why don’t they build the whole plane out of that?” It’s nonsensical, extrapolatory logic -- unless, of course, you’re Night Court. The Vancouver based lo-fi punk trio has taken a … Read more
