Bumbershoot 2023 Announces Set Times
Bumbershoot 2023 Schedule

Get your calendars ready- Bumbershoot has just released the set times for the festival’s 50th anniversary lineup. Bumbershoot 2023, running September 2-3 at Seattle Center, shared the schedule for the 40+ bands that will be performing. The lineup includes main-stage sets from Sleater-Kinney, Jawbreaker, Descendants, AFI and Sunny Day Real Estate.

Start planning now as the stacked lineup may lead to some devastating conflicts of interest. Are you willing to leave Screaming Females early enough to catch Destroy Boys? Will you skip a meal to catch back to back performances from Shannon and The Clams, Pussy Riot and Debby Friday? While you may have to make some hard choices, Bumbershoot is doing their best to ease the burden. Check out their website for a map of the center and a list of who will be playing at each stage. You may have to break open an Excel spreadsheet if you’re really looking to get your money’s worth from your festival pass.

Be sure to check the schedule as a few of the well curated festival’s start times are unexpected. Pussy Riot takes the stage at an early 3:05pm while Temples, with their melodic dream-pop, have a late 8pm slot. The only real disappointment is the 1:25pm set from Morgan and The Organ Donors on the opening day. The famous Seattle traffic and general long weekend tomfoolery will slow down festival goers enough that most of us will probably miss what is sure to be a great set.

Stay tuned for our live coverage of Bumbershoot 2023. For further information on set times, or to purchase tickets, head over to Bumbershoot’s website

AFI (The Blood Album)
Concord Music Group (2017)

AFI's trajectory over the last twenty and more years has been one that emulates growth and experimentation and the quartet that once sang about not being allowed a mohawk is now one that that sings about much darker, twisted subjects (although in more obvious terms than they once did). Still led by the effervescent Davey Havok, AFI are a band … Read more

Album number ten for the ever-evolving Californian four piece, whose shift in sound from skate punk to hardcore to "goth punk" to pop-influenced radio rock to... whatever 2009's Crash Love was... is well documented. And now here we are, after the gritty, aggressive Burials: a self-titled album also known as "The Blood Album".At first listen it's not too dissimilar from … Read more

Burials

As a zine built on the foundation of loving AFI, it would clearly be remiss not to talk about their new record. We try to pretend that Decemberunderground and Crash Love never happened - the first rule of AFI fandom is.... - but it would be silly to think that AFI made it to Burials without having to go through those two terrible albums. OK, I'll … Read more

Whoa-oh is both a pop-punk staple and a songwriting trick that finds its way across many genres. Is it a gimmick to create an easy anthem; a cheap way to fill in syllables; or does it not matter at all because, in the end, the songs that use it have … Read more
