Anarcho-rockers Chumbawamba recently announced that, after 30 years, they are calling it quits. The band has a lengthy farewell statement on their website, but here's a small clip of offer insight as to why they are dissolving:
We felt we'd got to a point where what we did as a band – and specifically the writing, recording, touring cycle – wasn't doing justice to what Chumbawamba set out to do in the first place.
The band is planning a few last shows over the next few months.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Ween co-founder Aaron Freeman aka Gene Ween announced his intention to retire the band. Freeman recently released a solo record of cover songs. SPB reviewed the band's most recent outing, La Cucaracha in 2008.
