Demos You Want To Check #1

Music / New Kids On The Block • September 14, 2025

The musical landscape is ever changing. New genres are popping up, new hypes burst out of nowhere and die out and new bands present themselves to the world. How on earth are you expected to keep up, right? Well, it never hurts to help! So here we are, your humble servants, ready to sift through those filters for you, presenting you the best demos we have encountered. Keep an eye for these bands -- they could become your new go-to band! Krime - Demo A band that harbours ex-members of Dutch bands like Brat Pack and Citizens Patrol. If you know these bands you’ll recognize the vocals straight away. On this demo they play more Poison Idea-influenced hardcore. You know it’s high quality if it is already picked up by a label (Shield Recordings). Amargao - Demo Something is brewing in Chile. Last year this band released a demo and an EP. The demo has been picked up by Junko Recs and, thus, caught my attention. The production is what really drew me. I am a sucker for that echo-effect when used right (and they nailed it here). I am reminded of The Pink Street Boys, but I have to admit that it’s been a while since I last listened to their debut, so it could be that my mind is playing games with me. Compete - Demo Does the world still need new youth crew? Well, yes, of course! Especially when it is brought with conviction and class as … Read more

La Dispute

No One Was Driving The Car
Epitaph (2025)

Occasionally bands will surpass being musicians and become artists. La Dispute aren’t making music. They’re making art. The band returns after six years with their self-produced 14 track, full-length, No One Was Driving The Car. It was neat how they launched this album through songs grouped in “acts” via a staggered rollout of EPs before the full drop. The album … Read more

Dying Wish

Flesh Stays Together
Sharptone (2025)

From their hardcore days to their newer, progressing sound on Flesh Stays Together, Dying Wish has been inching toward something sharper, more spectral, more personal. Not just lyrically, but also in sound. The band formed in Portland, Oregon in 2018 and haven’t stopped terrorizing the world alongside Spiritbox and Pain of Truth to name a few. Through nonstop touring, explosive … Read more

Sam Russo

Hold You Hard
Red Scare Industries (2025)

Art is subjective -- and sometimes it's curious what appeals to you. Hold You Hard is the latest from solo songwriter Sam Russo about travel, memory, and experience. There are stories of celebration throughout this record. Yet, for whatever reason, it's the somber, sadder songs that strike a chord with me as I listen to the album. "Gator Lodge" and … Read more
