Scene Point Blank: What are your top five albums that were released in 2007?

  1. Tegan and Sara - The Con
  2. Lifetime ? Lifetime
  3. Bruce Springsteen - Magic
  4. Dinosaur Jr. - Beyond
  5. The Good Life - Help Wanted Nights

Scene Point Blank: How will you remember 2007? (In terms of music)

I think 2007 was the best year for music in awhile, well at least for my tastes. I will remember it as the year that all of my alt rock favorites became active again: Dinosaur Jr., The Lemonheads, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, and Buffalo Tom. Also it was a year of ridiculously fun tours for Lemuria.

Scene Point Blank: What kind of impact do you think donation-based releases like Radiohead, Saul Williams, etc? will have on the record industry?

I think it will show the world that if people want to, they can do things for themselves, and not have to compromise the quality. I believe Radiohead made more money by releasing In Rainbows in a donation based way then they would have had they released it through their old label. On the other hand, it does scare me because I personally love having the actual copies of records for my collection, and I fear that digital releases will become the norm.

Scene Point Blank: 2007 saw the decommissioning of two prominent file-sharing groups - Demonoid and Oink. What kind of impact will the increased crackdown on file-sharing have on the record industry? Did it personally have an effect on you?

It's my opinion that new file-sharing technology will come around and the "industry" will face the same problems. It didn't really affect me personally though. Since I can check out what most bands sound like via Myspace now, the only albums I've downloaded in the past year or so have been things I knew I would purchase as soon as it came out, but I couldn't wait, so I got it when it leaked.

Scene Point Blank: What can we look forward to from your band in 2008?

Our first full length, Get Better, is coming out on Asian Man Records in mid-January. We're also planning on going on an Asian Man Tour with a bunch of other "label mates." Also we're hoping to do some more international touring, but we'll see if that happens.

Scene Point Blank: What three records are you looking forward to most in 2008?

R.E.M., The Cure, and The Lemonheads.
