The Mars Volta Loses Drummer

Posted Aug. 1, 2006, 1 a.m. in Bands by Matt

Mars Volta sticksman Jon Theodore is no longer a member of the afro-wielding rockers, according to fansite TheComatorium.com. From the band's new biography:

The Mars Volta cast that performed Amputechture will be modified for live dates that begin imminently, with drummer Jon Theodore replaced by Blake Fleming, formerly of Laddio Bolocko and Dazzling Killmen and actually the drummer who played on the very first Mars Volta demos.

Blake Fleming also played on Omar Rodriguez' film soundtrack, A Manual Dexterity. The band themselves have issued no statement regarding the reasons for Theodore's replacement, and speculation suggests that they are unlikely to do so.
