Wild Flag (ex-Sleater-Kinney) talk new band

Posted by Jon E. on October 10, 2010

Wild Flag, which features two members of acclaimed punk rock outfit Sleater-Kinney, recently spoke to Pitchfork about what to expect from the band:

But the songs are shorter and poppier than all of our songs have been in the past. With four people, there's an amount of doing what's best for the song, making choices that serve the song. We're all capable of stepping aside to let someone else shine, and we pass that around. It's really collaborative, but it's poppy and it's hard to explain. It sounds a little like all the bands we've been in, but it also has real songs. There are actual songs there. There's no one like Corin [Tucker], obviously. So it has a different vibe. It feels lighter.

The band recently signed to Merge Records and are aiming for a summer 2011 release for their debut.
