Man Overboard is the latest bubble-gum pop-punk band to come around, joining the existing one hundred thousand others. This four-piece hails from New Jersey, and like so many others they take influence from groups like Blink 182. I'm not blaming Man Overboard by any means, but I'm starting to get sick of these kinds of bands

By the way, if their name were a Far reference and not an obvious Blink 182 reference I'd be more stoked to listen to this EP.

"Love Your Friends Die Laughing" launches this EP into action and unfortunately for them, I'm not a fan. This acoustic sing-along is basically what happens when someone unplugs Taking Back Sunday's gear, but with much worse lyrics. Not to mention, opening with an acoustic sing-along song seems like the most backwards move ever.

"Dreaming" thankfully sees the band plug in, which is a vast improvement. The result is a pogo-ing punk jam with some cool guitar parts, but again, the lyrics are quite repulsive. The remainder of this EP is the same - fast and upbeat bubble-gum pop-punk that is rather juvenile and in need of serious work, especially the lyrical content.

I'm sure there are ton of All Time Low fans that will eat this band up but I can't really find much good to say about this EP. My opinion here really doesn't matter because there are a slew of kids stoked on the Blink 182 reunion to support this band's quest for glory.

Independent (2026)

Gary Young wasn’t just a drummer; he was a beautiful, unpredictable glitch poking a hole in the sky where other lovable misfits could enter and leave this universe they’d grace with their presence. While Hendrix kissed the sky, Young merely bit a hole right through it. While Pavement was busy inventing the 1990s slacker blueprint for the masses, Gary was … Read more

Amy Beth And Thee Creeps

Shitheel EP
Chaputa! Records (2026)

Sometimes I like to come into a record as a blank slate. Amy Beth And Thee Creeps sent me a short email with their latest EP, Shitheel. It's a 4-song garage-punk ripper that's easily under 10 minutes. I just checked: it's five and a half minutes. With no bio, the music speaks for itself and this is rhythmic, pulsing garage … Read more
