Let’s get crazy and out of control! That’s what the opening line of the album instructs us to do and I’m inclined to listen. I am new to the DeeCRACKS party and I’m not sure how I missed them. Celebrating 20 years in 2023, the band released 20 Years. A Frantic Effort, and I’m sure this newest release fully delivers the high-energy punk rock longtime fans are accustomed to. Maybe I was trying to give myself a late in life thrill by leaving something good to get to. Whatever the reason, this band is one of my new favorites.

Straight out of Vienna, Austria, DeeCRACKS are a punk rock force of poppy melodies and sweet harmonies. Think of the hard-hitting delivery and poppy earnestness of any great Ramonescore band, see Lillingtons, Manges or Screeching Weasel.

I must admit, I was initially worried about what I may have gotten myself into when I saw a whopping 18 tracks but I was quickly calmed when I saw the longest song was only two minutes and fifty-four seconds. My punk rock shaped, ADHD mind settled. I can handle less than three-minute-long songs, and these songs did not disappoint in any way. They hit hard and fast and left me wanting more. Just the way good punk rock should. This album was fantastic, beginning to end.

Stand out tracks include: “All of You” which is a beautiful punk rock ballad with hooky guitars and great harmonies. “Next to No One” opens with a gorgeous guitar lead that takes us right into the opening verses, full of more of those soaring harmonies I love so much. The long fade out on the chorus is really nice for nailing home that melody. Stunning work!

If you’re new to the band like I am, “True Nothing” makes an excellent starting point. From Pirate Press Records and dropping on 10/23/2026, this newest release fully delivers the high energy punk rock you’re accustomed to and gets me stoked to jump into the back catalog! Let’s go!

Sonic Delusions
Pirates Press (2018)

DeeCracks don’t reinvent anything, but they don’t regurgitate it either. There’s a lot of Ramones behind the experienced Austrian band, but they utilize familiar techniques like harmonies, solos, and even a surf instrumental to mix it up. It’s the kind of music that many bands try to pull off, but fail. It doesn’t sound like they’re aping their predecessors, but … Read more

Serious Issues
Pirates Press (2021)

DeeCracks is not exactly new to the punkrock scene. Starting out as The Cretins in 2003, rebranding themselves to DeeCRACKS in 2007 this Austrian trio has some experience under their belts. Serious Issues is their fourth full length album. Next to that they have released a string of splits and EP’s. So I am surprised that Serious Issues is the … Read more
