What band did you discover in 2011 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?
dragged into sunlight. i kept hearing the talk but with so many labels of genre and sub genre, after hearing 'blackened crust' so many times i just lumped them in with the others without giving it a listen. when i finally put it on i was completely blown away. i don't know what it is that makes them stand out so much, but i think they're fucking awesome. can totally change the direction of my day.
How will you remember 2011 (in terms of music)?
i saw the secret with masakari and trap them. and i saw george strait with willie nelson and joe satriani. after those two shows none of the others seem important enough to remember the line up.
What can we look forward to from you in 2012?
got a lot of irons in the fire already. both visually and musically, for myself and others. the HORDERS lp will be coming out on FEAST OF TENTACLES. as well as some other collaborations and splits. SISSTER SSOUND will be launching some cassettes for THE LESSER KEY, ODESSA, SCISSORING, RVEVV, and END REIGN to start. and visually i'll be working on some stuff with MIDNIGHT FUNERAL records and others as well as continuing to crush on the street.
What records are you looking forward to most in 2012?
definitely the HORDERS lp. the new king dude lp, hopefully a vinyl re-press of the dragged into sunlight lp. and the heksed 7" and hang the bastard / brotherhood of the lake split 7" if they aren't out before then.
What did you expect to be huge in 2011 which never made it?
i think all my expectations were pretty much met.
