Kylesa is launching their own label, Retro Futurist Records, this January, starting with the Ja. 28 release of Sierra's Pslip.

“The idea behind Retro Futurist Records is to provide an artist-friendly home to bands we like and bands we feel are relevant in aesthetic, sound, concept and/or ethics,” says Laura Pleasants.

The first release to come from the Savannah-based label is a vinyl release of Sierra’s debut album Pslip. The Kitchener prog trio will join Kylesa for a leg of the band’s European tour (Jan. 19 to Feb. 2). Pslip was produced by Cope and recently described by Caught in the Carousel as “so wrought with high-octane power, crunching riffs, catchy melodies, and good old-fashioned rock and roll that you’ll want to hear it over and over again.”

Releases for Jagged Vision, Darkentries, and Wet Socks are also in the works.

Future Retro Futurist releases (available lp/digital):

Jagged Vision Harvest Earth – Feb. 25, 2014

Darkentries - The Make Believe – March 25, 2014

Wet Socks - Title TBA – April 29, 2014

Static Tensions
Prosthetic (2009)

Is it really time for another Kylesa album? It may only seem like yesterday but it has been quite a while since their last album, Time Will Fuse its Worth, and the band looks intent on besting that effort in every way. Still set with its dual drummer line-up, Kylesa offer Static Tensions with its ten tracks of their crust … Read more

Time Will Fuse its Worth
Prosthetic (2006)

Kylesa is a conundrum. They straddle so many genres and styles of music that it is almost fruitless to attempt to classify them. However, I believe that this fact is part of their appeal where in other bands' cases, it would be a detriment. Regardless, their new album, Time Will Fuse its Worth, marks the addition of two new drummers … Read more

Laura Pleasants (Kylesa) SPB: When you're on tour, how is it decided (or who decides) where you'll eat? Pleasants: The promoter generally sets the schedule. Sometimes they will ask when we would like to eat and then we'll decide on the spot. Read more
