Texas country punks Vandoliers have released a new cover version of 1990s hit "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)"  (The Proclaimers).

"Over the years it’s grown from a nostalgic anthem, to a drunken shanty, but it wasn’t until I was memorizing every word that I realized it was one of the greatest love songs ever written," vocalist Josh Fleming says of the decision for this particular cover.

The single released yesterday on digital platforms and precludes the band's upcoming US tour dates. Vandoliers also head to the UK and Europe this summer.

Vandoliers released Forever about a year ago on Bloodshot Records.

Forever
Bloodshot (2019)

There’s a lot to like on Forever, the third album from Vandoliers. They play a hybrid country-punk that’s a bit too upbeat for No Depression and too gritty for traditional country, while pulling influence from a number of Texas musical styles along the way. It’s a six-piece group, complete with guitar, drum, and bass, but also fiddle, brass, and more. Throughout Forever, … Read more
