In 2010, Genghis Tron went on hiatus. The band returns to action in 2020, announcing this week that they are working on their third full-length album, to be produced by Kurt Ballou. The lineup also features two new members. Vocalist Mookie Singerman is no longer with the group, and Genghis Tron now features new members vocalist Tony Wolski and drummer Nick Yacyshyn (Sumac/Baptists) alongside founding members Hamilton Jordan and Michael Sochynsky.

The band's previous records, Board Up The House and Dead Mountain Mouth were recently reissued on vinyl by Relapse Records.

The currently untitled new record is expected to release in 2021, also on Relapse.

Genghis Tron

Dead Mountain Mouth
Crucial Blast (2006)

Genghis Tron is something of an anomaly in the world of music. On their Myspace site they list themselves as Grind/Electro/Metal, which is a pretty disconcerting declaration to some. It sounds a bit off-putting, like a botched crossbreeding that has yielded mentally handicapped offspring in the form of songs that should have never been written. That's the way it usually … Read more

Primitive Man is one of the filthiest, meanest sounding bands active in North America. On their latest record Immersion, the trio has forced forth … Read more

Dan (True Widow) SPB: Are genre labels important to assign to music?  Dan: I don't think genre labels are important. I do think they are helpful. When I get asked what kind of music we play I always say rock music. Not very helpful. Then I start saying things like … Read more
