Wild Arrows release a short film: Mike Law on the Spiral Stairs

Wild Arrows recently shared a new short film titled "Mike Law on the Spiral Stairs," correlating to the bands new album (out now) of the same titled. The album is described by the group as more layered and experimental in nature -- and "essentially a solo album while main collaborator Yasmin Reshemwala spends time on maternity leave." Drummer Alan Cage of Quicksand also contributes on a few songs.

The video serves to reinforce the album's themes.

As Law puts it:We made this before the pandemic knowing it would be a good companion and long term document of the album. The mood of the record culminates with "At Least" a track that harkens back to a childhood of growing up in a decayed former industrial town full of abuse, drugs, Sinéad O'Connor trying to save us on SNL from the predator priests in my school, and what I now know is called toxic masculinity that was around me 24 hours a day. It barely even felt like I participated in writing the album, it's more as though I just had to notice it was there. While I've spent a lifetime trying to unlearn these things I've also learned they chase you down. Filming some of the songs played live without an audience seemed like one of the rare times that a film like this might capture parts of the album better than the record itself.  The film and album's apex is the last song, "At Least" the end of the spiral black hole before it returns to light.

Check out the album.
