Totally Slow has a new LP on the way, the band's fourth overall and second with Refresh Records. The new record comes out this spring. It is also the first album to feature bassist Eddie Sanchez (Night!Night!, Solar Halos, The Love Language), alongside Andy Foster, Chuck Johnson, and Scott Hicks.

The first single is "Future Burns," a skatepunk meets basement vibe song that also features Noelle Shuck (Shehehe) on backing vocals. Sam of Man or Astroman also has a guest spot on the upcoming album.

Upcoming Tour Dates:

April 6 - Chapel Hill NC with Teen Mortgage & Death Lens

May 4 - Greensboro NC LP Release Party at Flat Iron with Shehehe

May 16 - Richmond VA at Banditos with Night!Night! And Talk Me Off

May 17 - Washington DC at Rhizome with Night!Night! And Palladists

May 18 - Baltimore MD at Holy Frijoles with Night!Night! And Meth Rats

May 26 - Chapel Hill NC at Local 506 for JAWS Fest

"Future Burns" lyrics:

through the confines

trying on the king’s shoes

fragile agony

we will try to see it through

your power absolutely

manifests as torture, too

a psychic paperweight

try to walk away

honesty is power

honestly, it’s dead weight

righteousness turned sour

no one else has

any restraint

On your soapbox

Level with the rank and file

Common interest

pandering the undefiled

It’s all a recipe

find yourself a guillotine

The huddled masses have no patience

And no energy

honesty is power

honestly, it’s dead weight

righteousness turned sour

no one else has

any restraint

The Darkness Intercepts
Refresh Records (2024)

I find Totally Slow a hard band to categorize. Their brand of melodic, hard punk is familiar and comforting -- rooted in ‘80s hardcore, ‘90s skatepunk, and post-something guitar-driven rock. The press release namedrops Dag Nasty and Hot Snakes, among others, which I think are good starting points. But while it’s familiar, it’s absolutely not a carbon copy. Like their forebearers, the songs … Read more

Casual Drag
Refresh Records (2021)

I don’t hear skatepunk-influenced bands that catch my attention very often. What was once new and vibrant has grown stale and derivative. Yet, Totally Slow (from North Carolina) have a very clear West Coast ‘90s influence that thrives throughout Casual Drag, their third record. While I hear a lot of familiarity, it still feels urgent and emotional. And while I’m setting … Read more

Jason Fusco (Shehehe) SPB: What drummer (not your own band) stand out to you the most? My faFusco: vorite drummer is Michael Gonzalez of the local Athens, GA band Deep State. I just really dig his driving style of playing. It's aggresive, but fluid, reminds me of why I play drums in … Read more
