The Burning Paris returns, announcing Last Leaves, out on Sept. 5. The new record marks the continuation of the band, who split up roughly 20 years ago and then reformed in 2021 with a revived lineup.
While members did some cool stuff in between, we’re here to talk about the present, specifically the brand new single we’re premiering today, “Bedroom Eyes.”
"'Bedroom Eyes' is quite simply about the notion of asking for help from those who love us the most. It's about realizing we aren't impervious and we need each other to survive through difficult times. When things seem hopeless, others can bring us hope both emotionally and spiritually when we feel lost," the band explains.
The new song highlights the band’s layered and methodical approach well, mixing elements of shoegaze with pop and even post-rock. There are strings…and prominent guitar. You can throw a lot of descriptors at the band and, while they will stick, they won’t quite hit target either. “Bedroom Eyes” is moody, soaring, yet also contemplative all at once.
Last Leaves will release on A Thousand Arms Music, with pre-orders beginning today.
The band last released Everything is Broken & I Don't Feel a Thing in 2023. Between stints in The Burning Paris, members have also played with On Fire, Eksi Ekso (Magic Bullet) and Lavinia (The Mylene Sheath).
