North Carolina punk band Superintendo shared "Hearts & Cliques" yesterday, a new video and teaser for this winter's new album: We Will Not Be Undersold.
"'Hearts & Cliques' is a critique of modern attention economics, algorithm driven art, the productive façade of social media, and self-loathing about my complicity in that system," Luke West (guitar/vocals) says. "I wrote it because we got a less than glowing review on another song which had a very long intro that 'wouldn’t play' in the algo. It was a totally fair criticism and well-meaning. I thought the intro to that song was dope and I feel bad for people who write songs to please a computer. The song is basically saying fuck the system, please buy my record."
That new record will release via Punkerton at a still to be announced date.
