Recording James Tenney's Changes: 64 Studies for 6 Harps

Posted Nov. 5, 2017, 10:13 a.m. in Music News by Loren

Musician Adrian Tenney (Badlands, ex-Spokenest and Gods Equals Genocide) is working on a project to record a piece of music composed by her late father James Tenney in 1985. Titled Changes: 64 Studies for 6 Harps, the work features 6 harps all tuned slightly differently. It will be performed for free in Los Angeles later this month, and Adrian is raising funds to produce a 3 CD recording of the material.

The piece was originally composed using computer algorithms and has been translated to musical scores to increase accessibility. To learn more, check out the video below.

Dec. 10 Update: Fundraising for the recording expires in one week and is nearly at its goal.
