Mastodon's Score For "Jonah Hex" Film In Doubt

Posted by Jon E. on April 19, 2010

Mastodon’s scoring contributions to the upcoming motion picture “Jonah Hex” appear to be in jeopardy following a series of reshoots, a change in composers and more. The band originally had begun recording the score for the film last fall alongside composer John Powell, but due to time constraints, composer Marco Beltrami has since been brought onboard.

According to Mastodon frontman Brent Hinds, Beltrami wanted to go in an entirely different direction with the score, leaving the group to rush-record some new material for the film earlier this month. Word from a seemingly disgruntled Hinds on the matter, along with a look into the films trouble history, can be found at www.nymag.com.
