Amanda Mackaye has been active in the renowned Washington DC punk/hc scene since the late 80s. Following in her older brother’s footsteps, she helped start Sammich Records which released seminal recordings by Swiz, Soulside and Shudder To Think among others (for more on that I recommend the Swiz book published last year by Akashik books). Currently Amanda fronts the band Bed Maker who recently released a new two-song 7” on crucial Dischord Records label. First new songs since the bands debut album from 2024. Mackaye’s vocals sound like Poly Styrene singing like Guy Piciotto and her band's jagged post-punk/hc hits all the nerves that any classic Dischord band would/should. Recorded and mixed by Ian Mackaye and Don Godwin and released September 11th, order the vinyl from the label and/or catch Bed Maker on upcoming East Coast dates.
