Update: Mountain Goats and Ides of Gemini together

Update:

Due to a herniated disc in drummer Kelly Johnston-Gibson's spine, Ides of Gemini have dropped off all remaining tour dates with The Mountain Goats as well as cancelling their solo dates post-Mountain Goats tour.

"The Mountain Goats and their crew have been super cool to us and we're honored to have played with them. With some rest and healing, we plan to be in top form for our Summer tour dates," the band states.

Ides of Gemini will join The Mountain Goats on an upcoming tour this April.

"We are beyond thrilled to be going on tour with Mountain Goats this Spring," says guitarist J. Bennett of Ides of Gemini. "And we're honored that John Darnielle and his bandmates chose to bring us along for the ride. I can't think of another bill that's quite like this one, so I've gotta give them huge props for taking a chance on us and doing something different."

Bleed Out
Merge (2022)

The Mountain Goats have made an action movie. Bleed Out is a concept album of sorts, made in a distinctly Mountain Goats way. Basically, ringleader John Darnielle wrote the record while watching movies: pausing and taking notes, so the lyrics aren’t just about familiar plotlines, but the full scope of cinematic storytelling. That info all comes in the press release, but it’s … Read more

Constantinople
Neurot\Sige (2012)

Ides Of Gemini probably seem to have come out nowhere to most. Looking at their members there isn't a long ex members of list or any long time battling it out with a ton of releases either. The band seemingly came from nowhere last year by self releasing an EP or demo. Said EP The Disruption Writ was a brief … Read more

Heretic Pride
4AD (2008)

After hearing The Sunset Tree, I was certain that John Darnielle was incapable of writing songs that even hint at happiness. Hope is abundant, but joy is absent. His songs are stories of lives endured. Each album is an anthology of damaged characters trying to survive unfortunate circumstances. Heretic Pride makes that leap from hope to joy, the overall mood … Read more
