Fifty years in and still allergic to doing anything quietly, Iron Maiden have confirmed they’ll be hauling their Run For Your Lives tour to Australia later this year - a full-tilt celebration of the band’s early catalogue, delivered with the kind of theatrical excess they long ago turned into a competitive sport.
The set leans hard into the first nine records, meaning this is less a nostalgia exercise and more a last call for some of the songs that built the mythology in the first place. If you’ve never heard “The Trooper” or “Rime of the Ancient Mariner” detonated in a room (or, in this case, a stadium) full of committed lifers, this is likely the moment.
They won’t be arriving quietly either. Thrash institution Megadeth are along for the ride on what’s being framed as their final world tour, turning the whole thing into less of a concert and more of a travelling metal summit.
The run takes in Allianz Stadium, AAMI Park, plus arena stops in Adelaide and Brisbane, with the promise of a brand-new production scaled to match the occasion. Expect towering visuals, familiar mascots, and a crowd loud enough to make the band forget what year it is.
Pre-sales start March 4, general sale March 6. If you’re going, maybe start limbering up your neck now as November isn’t that far away.
