Gutless Wonder may be the debut album from Super*user, but the band was a long time in the making – formed by three hometown friends whose lives took them from Dearborn, MI to various locales and, ultimately back to Detroit.
Through their shared experiences the melodic basement punk meets Jawbreaker vibes are equally harsh and soothing, aggressive yet measured. Twenty years ago, I think I called this sound introspective punk. Anyway, the band released Gutless Wonder (GC Records / Ideas Are Bulletproof Records) last month and today we’re excited to share a new video below for “Here For You.”
"’Here for You’ opens the record both in sequence and in spirit, the first song written for Gutless Wonder," explains Zach Yarrington of Super*user. "It was written about a close friend who has since passed, and it lives on as a quiet insistence to reach for the people still here. In a world that can feel relentlessly heavy, it’s a reminder to check in, to stay close, to choose care anyway. That tension between love and the weight of everything around it runs through the core of this record.”
Gutless Wonder is available on six vinyl variants, plus digitally.
