The newest release from Drivin N Cryin is the fourth EP of the series, each release showcases the progression of this fine Atlanta band from their Punk pedigree to current status as proud Southern Rockers. This record has the band in their element with some classic guitar work and fantastic songwriting, the beauty of a Drivin N Cryin song lies in the familiarity of the topic. Kevn Kinney has a knack of lyrically capturing themes like heartbreak, girlfriends, and life in general and presenting them in a way that sounds fresh.

Whether it be the EP opener "Turn" which is a classic Southern rocker from the get-go to "Roll Away The Song" with its 12-string guitar opening and the familiar love lost and regret resonating throughout, definitely one of my favorites on the record. "Love Is The World" with its psychedelic tinges and "Strangers" peppered with the Tom Petty sound are once again reminders from the band of who and what influenced their sound and growth over the years. The EP closes with "Jesus Christ" with its straight ahead Southern Rock beat and a "whoo whoo" vocal refrain suggestive of "Sympathy For The Devil".

This EP is another keeper from the series and maybe Kevn is onto something with the EP vs. LP model. I'm hoping for four more over the next year.....
