thisquietarmy is an experimental project helmed by Eric Quach from Montreal. His catalogue is extensive (you could spend hours on bandcamp) gut each release has a life of its own, and a story to tell. The New Testament is a commentary on the rise of the smartphone as a foundation for life, with the cover art simplifying that idea down to a bleak, cold concept, and mirroring the music found within.

The New Testament focuses on stark cold wave tones with elements of post punk filtering into the synthesised sounds and drone soundscapes turning "Sacrifice" into a sad, morose work that feeds the disconnect below. "Rapture" is a somewhat flightier affair, with a constant pulse of sound that registers before the melancholy loops beneath and slices through the ether.

thisquietarmy is incredibly prolific, but the quality of the work is yet to suffer. The New Testament is an intriguing entry into the discography, and if sad post punk electronica is your jam, then this 7" is worth the investment.
