Horrorpunk's Not Dead: Vol.1 is the first of (hopefully) many compilations created by the team behind Horrorpunk's Not Dead radio podcast. Not only are they fast becoming Europes best horrorpunk radio show but they are proving to be a significant force when it comes to promotion within the community, being the busiest and most proactive promoters of horrorpunk in Europe right now. So much so, creator of Horrorpunk's Not Dead Dan Phillips has started up We Are Horror Records to put out these compilations. Dan says "this compilation (Vol. 1) is the first release through the label. I have interest from bands within the scene and I'm already working at putting together Vol.2 because the dead don't rest!!"

Horrorpunk's Not Dead: Vol. 1 is 28 tracks of the horrorpunk communities finest bands from all over the globe with a whooping total of 19 brand new tracks; this denotes Horrorpunk's Not Dead as THE place to go for exclusive content. Vol. 1 opens with a guest introduction from Horrorpunk's USA legend The Ghoulfather so you just know that this is going to be veritable smorgasbord of spooky fun from start to finish. Some of the featured bands are: Diechotomy, Silent Horror, Won't Stay Dead, 5 Cent Freakshow and Grave Robber with exclusive tracks from Siblings Of Samhain, The Deathtones, Boogeyman, Los Morts and so many more!! The compilation is best described by its creator Dan as "a homage to the punk compilations back in the day (think Punk-O-Rama) with Vol. 1 showcasing the best modern horrorpunk, death rock and psychobilly in the world right now". True to their word they have come up with the most exciting horrorpunk compilation since Fiendforce Records brought out their This Is Horrorpunk series back in 2003.

The track listing has been incredibly well thought out and the variety of bands mixed together with style. This holds the listeners attention and will give you a chance to sample other styles of the genre you may not have discovered before without throwing them down your throat. Stand out tracks for me are; "Self Made Psychopath" by Siblings Of Samhain, "Fuck You (if you're not Bruce Campbell) by Damage 66, "Sirens" by Robby Bloodshed and "Killing the Scene (feat: Death Ed)" by The Tomb Of Nick Cage but these are just my own personal preferences, there is so much more to discover on here. If you want serious and dark there is "Feed The Flame" by Voice Of Doom or "The Upside Down" from Five Cellars Below or if you want fun there is a cover of "Killer Klowns from Outer Space" by Ghosts On Tape (originally from The Dickies) or "My Girlfriend's a Zombie" by The Tomb Tones, and who doesn't love the sound of bands with names like Chesty Malone and the Slice 'em Ups or Pumpkin Guts??!! There is something for everyone on this album.

All tracks recorded, mixed and mastered by the bands themselves. The cool and vibrant artwork is done by Horror Rudey and Dan Phillips and Horrorpunk's Not Dead: Vol. 1 is released on We Are Horror Records on October 21st 2022.

You can get yourself a copy of Horrorpunk's Not Dead: Vol. 1 from https//wearehorrorrecords.bandcamp.com/ because of the sheer number and quality of the tracks and exclusives both in content and sound plus how well it flows as an album I score Vol.1...

Dead Band's Party: A Tribute to Oingo Boingo
Indianola (2005)

The 80's weren't really as bad as those VH1 specials make it out to be. Sure the fashion of those years was pretty atrocious, but try going to a concert today without laughing. It's hard, trust me. Throughout the decade there was quality music being made on all fronts - pop, hardcore, new-wave, hip hop, and punk. There were some … Read more

Generations: A Hardcore Compilation
Revelation (2005)

I turned 31 about a month ago and at my age a person tends to finally want to "grow up" and get out of hardcore. There's been plenty of lonely Friday and Saturday nights (like tonight) where I've wanted just pack up 90% of my CD collection (the fuck if I'm going to give up my Cro-Mags and Lifetime discs) … Read more

Tony Hawk's American Wasteland

Tempers of music fans ran high from the day stories were posted on various sites that specific bands were to be covering songs that are heralded as classics in the genres of punk rock and hardcore. A metalcore band covering Bad Brains? A pop-punk band covering the legendary Gorilla Biscuits? Surely this is some sort of joke. Surely not. Say … Read more
