What are your top five albums that were released in 2009? (In order 1-5)

  1. Paint It Black - Amnesia

  2. Converge - Axe To Fall

  3. Foundation - Hang Your Head

  4. Mother of Mercy - III

  5. Lewd Acts - Black Eyed Blues

What band did you discover in 2009 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

Neutral Milk Hotel or The Mountain Goats. This year I expanded my music taste and diversified into genres I normally wouldn't listen to. These two bands made a big impact on my life. Neutral Mike Hotel has a positive message and The Mountain Goats have very sad/depressing lyrics. I got both ends of the spectrum with these two artists. Mountain Goats live changed my life.

How will you remember 2009? (In terms of music)

This year was one of my best when considering the albums I was able to release. I put out two 7"'s from two great young bands (Hell & Reason and Black Teeth), an LP of some of my best friends (Purple Mercy) and my very first 2xLP for Sabertooth Zombie who blew my mind with their new material. 2009 for the general industry might have been the first year that CD releases were less emphasized and more labels adapted to releasing music on vinyl with digital download.

2009 was a huge year for reunions. What reunion excited you the most? What band that has not reunited would you love to see play/record most in 2010?

No reunions were special for me. I would absolutely love to see Modern Life Is War play another show but it might not the best idea.

I'm curious to see what Ceremony, Daughters, and Fear Before have to offer.
