Mike Bachich (Nothing)

What are your top five albums that were released in 2010? (In order 1-5)
  1. Virgin Spring - Absolute Decline
  2. Milk Music - Beyond Living
  3. Vile Gash - S/T 7"
  4. Gun Outfit - Possession Sound
  5. Sun City Girls - Funeral Mariachi
What band did you discover in 2010 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

Flying Saucer Attack. I never gave them my full attention until I sat down with "Distance" and "Flying Saucer Attack" this year. They're noisy and heavy, but incredibly beautiful at the same time. I put them up with there with The Swirlies and Slowdive as my favorite bands that played that style of music.

How will you remember 2010? (In terms of music)

More of the same. A slew of new bands who consistently put out great records/tapes. I didn't notice a significant change in the musical climate, but maybe I'm not paying enough attention. My purchasing and the ways I find new music haven't changed much in years.

With more and more bands switching to digital methods of releasing music and communicating with audiences in 2010, do you think there's still a place for physical CDs and word-of-mouth shows in the future?

Absolutely. I have no doubt in my mind that there will always a significant number of humans who actually want/need physical media. I've been to more shows this year that weren't advertised on the internet and were more heavily attended than those with an actual online presence.

What can we look forward to from you in 2011?

A 7", full length, possible CD compiling the demo/7"/remixes, and a North American tour.

What three records are you looking forward to most in 2011?

Bone Awl / Ashdautas split, Scapegoat LP, and whatever Earl Sweatshirt releases.
