The Fest 20
The Fest 20

It’s hard to believe that The Fest is in its 20th iteration. The festival always had ambition, but it’s a real testament to still be going 20+ years later. And not just because of pandemic challenges, but because punk bands tend to come and go. It would be impossible to truly measure how many “punk generations” The Fest has spanned -- and influenced as it keeps on thriving.

Scene Point Blank has attended approximately 10 Fests. Admittedly, it gets hard to count after a while, but in that time we've written some in-depth histories and more. For #10 we collected stories about the first decade. For Fest 18 we tried to capture the spirit of some long lost venues.

But that's all history. Because our main point is that Fest 20 is about the present, not the past.

The schedule is now online so attendees can start planning ahead. And we also have some interviews to help you prep, thanks to Hot Water Music, No Trigger, MakeWar, and City Mouse.

Scene Point Blank has covered The Fest thoroughly since its inception in 2002. The site has personally sent attendees to Fests 6-13, then 17-18 in varied capacity, and we’ve back for The Fest 20. Oh, and we shared some remote memories when shutdowns kept it from happening in 2020, too. … Read more

Panopticon may be more widely known as a "metal" band - I use that term loosely because Panopticon is a lot more than the black metal base genre it derives from - yet founder Austin Lunn finds his inspiration from many different genres, punk and hardcore being one aspect of … Read more

Twenty years is a long time – much longer than many relationships last. So it’s an accomplishment when a band can stick together through life and social changes. DeeCracks, a poppy punk band from Austria, threw a two-day festival last year and released a 28-track retrospective to mark their anniversary … Read more

Acathexis – Immerse (Amor Fati/Extraconscious Records) Acathexis’ self-titled debut from 2018 is one that still bears repeated listens, personally, many years later.
