Dave Slaverave (Dollar Store - bass)
SPB: This band hits a lot of styles, all kind of overlapping at the same time. How hard was it to find “your sound” when bringing these influences together?
Slaverave: Not very hard at all actually. We're all old-ass adults who've soaked in a lot of influences at this point. It actually makes more sense to explore all the styles we love and throw them all together. Sticking to one or two influences is definitely a young person's game when you're trying to recreate the music you love. Removing the boundaries and allowing anything to happen is much more enticing when you're jaded and kinda heard it all. Just let the pieces fall into place, you'll get some tunes. Too many actually. Got quite the cache of stuff to sift through for a next record. Last song Jeff and I knocked out was a ska tune. Which is insane because I fucking hate ska... But kicks total ass when we do it. Never know where the wacky world of music will take you next. I suggest everyone remove their boundaries and ride the ride.
