Laura (Fortitude Valley)

SPB: What do you remember, or alternately what stands out the most, about playing the first live show with Fortitude Valley?

Laura: It was January 2020, and I remember being very nervous about having to talk to the crowd and being the front person -- something that I still find nerve wracking!

I wrote cheat notes on my set list; things like “say hi to audience,” “say name of band,” “mention merch,” and then I was embarrassed when someone took my set list and could see all my notes.

I also remember being incredibly blown away by the number of people who came to watch us do our first show and how supportive everyone was. It was really special, I couldn't wait to do it again. We did it once more in March 2020...and...everyone knows what happened next!

Five years on, we're still here -- with a new album out next month and a tour later this year, so something must've gone right!
