Tom White (Frog)

SPB: What do you remember of playing your first live show?

White: We played 15 second covers as a house band for a live improv comedy show. We played between acts, but most of the acts didn't know we were going to play, so they would walk out and start talking, and then have to stop so we could belt out a few seconds of "The Scientist." We played one original song at the end of each night, and at that point our only song was "Nancy Kerrigan."

We played 5 or so of these shows before we had enough material to play an actual full set to an actual empty bar. That was an amazing time for us. Huge thanks to Danny Jolles.

Frog’s second LP Kind of Blah is one that swings from highs to lows, from poppy pep to slowed down sadness and it encompasses every other emotion within it’s short running time that any of us would know. Opener “All Dogs Go To Heaven” is a guitar led-piece that showcases the duo’s bittersweet indie pop and sets out their intent … Read more

Absolutely Kosher (2004)

Make no mistake: Victoria, B.C. based band Frog Eyes aren't the amphibious offshoots of cacophonous rabble-rousers Wolf Eyes. If anything, these 'Eyes' are a whole different breed of animal. On The Folded Palm, the group's first for Absolutely Kosher and third overall, Frog Eyes fuse a unique sound encompassing lush, bittersweet organ melodies, reverb-heavy guitars, the freewheeling antics of a … Read more
