Eric Robel (Moral Panic)

SPB: You recently covered “Colombian Necktie” by Big Black. What made you pick that song from Big Black’s catalog?

Robel: I thought of the idea, looking through my records. I was purposely trying to come up with a cover that was different. Something not what you are supposed to do. I feel like it’s my job to come up with the opposite of what the regularly scheduled organized adult activity calls for. Big Black represents that to me. And there is something equally similar between both bands, simple verse-chorus-verse with no 3rd part. Plus it was a challenge to play drums as good as a Roland 606. The other idea was to make it a hardcore song for no good reason at all. It came out cool!
