Annie Sparrows (Soviettes, FM Wired, Lil Happiness, God Damn Doo Wop Band)

SPB: What’s the worst thing that’s happened to you on tour? Have you ever been stranded or had to cancel?

Sparrows: Yes, I TOTALLY got left at a gas station in the middle of nowhere by accident. Everyone else got about 5 miles away when they realized I wasn't asleep in the back of the van - this was before we had cell phones so it was lucky that they only got that far...

Soviettes did have to cancel a couple shows out of the hundreds we played but we NEVER did unless there was absolutely zero way we could physically get to the show. We played through lost voices, broken hands, fights, sickness, replacing band members - the only things that stopped us were a blizzard closing one of the passes in Montana (or maybe Washington?), our van breaking down (only once or twice did we have to cancel because of the van...usually we could get someone to pick us up or fix it in time to make it to the next show), and once we had to bail on the tail end of a tour because of a family emergency. Overall, though, we were pretty good at not whining about stuff, so I guess it always felt like "Meh, it could always be worse."
