Sweet Gloom

Jaake Margo (Sweet Gloom – vocals/guitar)

SPB: You covered “Jaded” for the Operation Ivy tribute. Why that song (and did you have a second choice)?

Margo: "Jaded" was always my favorite Operation Ivy song, so when the opportunity came to cover it, I jumped on the chance. I grew up a little less than an hour from 924 Gilman Street, and I was always so enamored with the place, everything that went into it, and all the bands that played there. Operation Ivy was a huge influence very early on, and the lyrics of "Jaded," or at least how I interpret them, mean a lot to me. Even though we can become jaded about the things we love and be surrounded by jaded people in our community, the thing we’re doing is still beautiful and we still want to be part of it regardless, especially in the music community.

There wasn’t really a second choice but if I had to choose another one to cover it would probably be "The Crowd" just because that song rocks so truly hard.
