SPB: You’ve been in multiple bands. What is the origin story of The Drolls? What was your radioactive spider?
Barltett: I hadn’t played live in almost 20 years and other people I knew from back in the day were getting back into it and it looked like they were having fun so I thought I would too.
Originally I didn’t know what I was going to write about since leaving Sicko when I felt like I’d run out of things to say. And then after watching a Land of the Lost marathon I decided the songs would all be based on episodes. I quickly realized that was kind of a stupid idea, although both “Follow that Dinosaur” and “Downstream” came from it, while being decidedly not about Land of the Lost any more. And it just kinda took off from there.
