Posted by Loren on May 26, 2011

Laptop rapper MC Lars has launched Horris Records in effort to promote "like-minded, DIY/ punk culture-based indie rappers." The label's first release is Weerd Science (featuring ex-Coheed & Cambria's and current drummerof Terrible Things Josh Eppart). Sick Kids, their debut, was released on May 17, 2011.

Horris Records is named from a character in the 1987 movie Monster Squad. To further promote the label, he will be issuing a free mixtape in June featuring KRS-One, Sage Francis, Grieves, Sole, MC Frontalot, Rittz, Scroobius Pip, and Weerd Science. "The mixtape is the first in what I hope to be a series of free projects that highlight the diversity and my ability to network within our subgenre of rap," he says. These releases will be followed by MC Lars' third album, Lars! Attacks! Later this summer. MC Lars recently appeared on CNN Money to promote the label.
